Very nice rooms and very quiet location, even next to the golf course! Every staff member was top notch and very accommodating! The Staff and Hotel get 5 stars, or on a scale of 1 - 10 they get a 10!

We got a super rate on the room, especially for it being on a Valentine’s/3-day weekend. When we checked in, we were offered an upgrade for $20 a night. The room was fantastic for us. Comfortable bed, patio, plenty of room. The only change we would make is to take an upstairs room in the future. We were downstairs and could hear every step made above us. The walls and ceiling are pretty thin. We look forward to returning.

It was advertised as having a Mini Refrigerator and it did not - it had a small COOLER - BIG DIFFERENCE! I travel with food items and need a refrigerator! No WI-FI in rooms, has archaic system where you may need an ethernet connection. You can go up to the lobby and use WI-FI there - not convenient. I was able to check out a few other rooms to see which I wanted, some were musty smelling. Rooms do need soundproofing between them!

I liked it EXCEPT for the following 2 major items: NO WI-FI in room, old time line hook-up requiring ethernet cable. NO REFRIGERATOR - though it was advertised as having a mini fridge. It was just a “cooler”! BIG drawback in my book as I travel with my own food and need to keep it cold and not worry about using ice etc. Other issues: Sound proofing between rooms is not good. I did check out 3 rooms to see which I wanted, 2 of them smelled musty.

it’s a nice place, and fairly quiet. the bed is really comfortable, and the room is nicely designed. the only thing to look out for if you’re using mapquest, or tomtom to get to the place, they both give the wrong directions. call the place and ask for direction instead.

We had a great time except there seems to be a lot of partying so it was noisy even after midnight. Parking was an issue at times due to the extra people who were attending the partys. We had a great time golfing and our room was very nice.

We had thought we were booking for Pala Casino, and when we arrived at the casino we were told that “this happens all the time”. We were sent 8 miles away to Pala Mesa Resort, on the golf course. It is confusing when arriving in the dark where the front reception desk is because the signage is just for the restaurant. The rooms are older (1970’s?) and we were even upgraded to their “second best room”. It was ok. The beds are very bouncy, and the decor is somewhat “lodgy” but they were clean. Our biggest problem was the parking. We were in an area up a very steep slope. When we arrived at 11pm Saturday night from a wedding, there were no parking places available anywhere up the slope. We had to park at the bottom and walk up to our room. This was not an easy task! Parking places should be assigned.

In my opinion, Pala Mesa Resort is more like a higher-end motel than a resort. The rooms are in a two-story motel-type building in which each room is accessible from outdoors. Pros: room had a large outdoor patio overlooking the course, room was good size. Cons: Rooms very far from registration building, noise level VERY high from adjoining rooms and outside–I could make out conversations distinctly, not muffled at all.

Stayed there after wine tasting in Temecula. Great value for the money. There was a problem with the first room we were placed in and the staff upgraded us immediately to a premium room. Only downside is that you have to drive to find more restaurants if you want dinner.

Pala Mesa did a good job. The one thing to be careful of, they charged me for my room, in addition to the Hotels.com charges. Hotels did a pretty good job of getting this fixed. It took 3 phone calls from me, but did get resolved.

I thought this was a perfectly decent hotel. My room was clean and comfortable without being, to my mind, tremendously attractive. The walkway outside the door of my room was kind of dirty and needed sweeping. The coke machine nearby was out of order, which was a little disappointing, given the warm summer weather. The hotel restaurant had good food for a fair price, though the waitress wasn’t real friendly. I didn’t see the swimming pool. The golf course was in good condition, with a good layout of holes, as well as being a pretty course.

I picked this hotel, because a friend flew out here from Ohio; I wanted her to show her a good time. The resort is well kept. Room service was excellent. The maids came by twice to ensure that everything was in good order. If you’re looking to experience Southern California, the location may be a problem. It is out of the way of a lot of hot spots. They also needed to work on the upkeep of the plants. There were vines and branches growing in the path of walking to my room.

The grounds at the hotel were beautiful and the rooms were nice. We especially liked the balcony seating in our room and the lovely water features. The restraunt was a little pricey and the food too fancy but tasty. I would reccomend this hotel to my friends.

    Jun 11, 2008
We were given 2 smoking rooms although non-smoking was specified. 2 of our party are severe asthma sufferers and one of them was taken to the emergency room the day after we checked in. The hotel was very nice about changing our rooms but the damage was already done. Our overall impression was the hotel was very nice, but this experience ruined our entire stay.

The atmosphere at Pala Mesa is relaxing and quiet. The location leaves one feeling much more remote than the hotel actually is. We enjoyed the serenity of the rooms. The golf course was in great shape and the pace of play was very good. The food at the hotel’s restaurant was beyond expectations and the service was good.

I originally thought i was staying at Pala Casino, when i got there they told me i didn’t have reservatios there rather at the Pala-Mesa resourt. Only 6 miles from up the road and glad i stayed there. It was smoke free unlike the casino. The rooms are old but spacious and very confortable. The scenery in the morning is breathtaking, the golf course beautiful. The only one complain i had about the hotel is that they need to put a REGISTRATION sign for guests to see. We drove around in the dark and could not find it. Finally a nice security guard who saw us driving around flagged us down and sent us the right way. Overall we are very satisfied and woul stay there again. good beds, good pillows, quiet, roomy, good heating. The restaurant had great affordable food. Go winetasting!

Okay, if you WANT a golf resort. Nice rooms (Overpriced), nice restaurant (VERY overpriced) [$175 for six for lunch]. SEVERE shortage of parking, necessitating long walks to car; bad at night for security purposes!

My daughter and I flew in from Florida for a wedding and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay while in California. The resort was in excellent condition. Staff was helpful and courteous. Easy access to major highway and centrally located (about 1/2 hour without traffic) north of San Diego and the Ocean by Oceanside/Carlsbad, yet in the quiet of the hills. I would definitely stay at Pala Mesa Resort again and would highly recommend it to all my friends and family!

The hotel is very nice and the location very scenic. But when we arrived at our room, it was not made and we had to switch rooms. However, they were very apologetic about it, and gave us a free upgrade. The restaurant is nice, but pretty pricey.

The hotel is very nice and comfortable. However, we had several problems with the room: the heating did not heat enough, instead it blew cold air and the fridge made too much noise and we had to disconnect it. The front desk people were not very helpful but the maintenance people were great. We do not golf. But it is a nice resort with great tennis courts, fitness room and some nice paths to hike or run. Need to drive to get some meals (the resort restaurant is quite pricey). Fallbrook offers some nice restaurant options and so does Temecula.

The first room we were put into was nice however the cable didn’t work. Apparently other rooms were having the same issue. The toilet in the room was hard to flush and in the morning the flusher broke off. We asked for another room and were moved without a fuss but we weren’t even offered an upgrade. One night we called the front desk and asked for suggestions for sushi in the surrounding area. The clerk said she would look into it and call us back. We waited a 1/2 hour and she never called back. We ended up looking up places online. When I called to tell her not to bother she didn’t even offer an apology for not getting back to us. I didn’t think that was very customer service oriented. Overall the property was very nice, especially if you like to golf. In general, their fitness center needs an upgrade. The restaurant was expensive but the food was excellent.

This hotel is awesome. From the check in counter to our rooms everything was perfect. The Ladies at the front desk were extremely friendly and the rest of the staff were very helpful and always greated us with a smile. The manager pick the right people for there jobs. I would love to come back and stay there again. The food was a little pricey but when it came out it was worth it !

We stayed two nights so we could visit wine country, be close to the shore in Carlsbad and maybe gamble at the casinos. The location was good, but its too near the highway. When we had problems with the air conditioner in the room, the highway road noise was excessive all night. This was more like a holiday inn than the resort we expected.

    Oct 30, 2008
The hotel grounds were lovely but the concierge was not very helpful, especially when we called them to ask if this was the right room because it looked very different from the photos online. Also, it was dirty, the carpet was all stained, the paint was peeling in the bathroom, the refrigerator was in an armoire on a shelf and was unplugged and dirty. The concierge told us to “plug it in and it should work”. We had to lift it out of the armoire, swing the electrical cord through the hole…a good thing there were 2 of us because if I was alone, I would have gone without the fridge as it was too heavy and too difficult a maneuver for someone alone. Then we had to wash it out to put bottles of water into it. All in all it was a very disappointing experience and we would never return to this property.

    Oct 22, 2008
Hotel is alreay older but in a good shape. We had a room close to 9th fairway, which was big, clean and comfortable. The golf course was in OK shape, considering time of year. The resort staff was very friendly and knowlegable;I can recommand this hotel.

    Oct 22, 2208
I didn’t spend a great amount of time in my room, but it was comfy and clean. I was given a really spacious room. The walls are kind of thin, since I could hear the folks above us. There wasn’t any parking since we arrived late, so we had to park on the street next to our room, but it wasn’t too far. Overall, I would stay here again.

    Aug 13, 2008
The hotel was fully booked - mostly by wedding parties - and party they did . A small fortune in recyclable cans was scattered about on Sunday morning with no staff in sight to gather the harvest. Parking was a daymare as guests brought guests brought guests.. However , I was able to enjoy a quiet breakfast in the restaurant on Sunday morning. I suppose someone had to benefit from a hotel wide hangover.

    Aug 13, 2008
We ate at the restaurant twice and the food was excellent. The terrace outside was relaxing, the grounds are very pretty, and the pool was fun. The hotel was pretty good. Parts of the hotel were nice, but other areas needed some maintenance and cleaning. Would recommend it.

    Jul 30, 2008
This is a terrific resort for business and leisure stay in the San Diego area. The restaurant is superb with great food and the service is attentive and courteous. The grounds are not only beautiful, tucked along side a mountain, but the grounds are beautifully landscaped and immaculately kept. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, request a ground floor room with a balconey. Nothing beats enjoying your morning coffee or evening beverage overlooking the ninth fairway. Overall, a beautiful facility with a challenging golf course and terrific service from the pro shop to the restaurant to the front desk staff. A must stay facility.

    Jul 25, 2008
I felt that the hotel had a bit of an “older” feel to it. I wouldn’t have minded if it was older in a more rustic sense… it just seemed a shoddy and not well kept. I was reminded of a gaudier Motel 6. The shower tub didn’t drain properly and the toiletries (soap/shampoo/lotion) offered were pretty horrific. But perhaps the Pala Mesa Resort is good for the elderly and those interested in golfing. Definitely not for the younger kids. For a little more, I would recommend staying somewhere else.

    Jul 10, 2008
The golf course at Pala Mesa deserves its 4-1/2 stars from Golf Digest. The money is clearly going into the golf course and not into the accomodations. The rooms are dated, old, moldy and in need of maintenance. Pala Mesa needs to spend some money on renovation in order to bring people to the “resort” for more than just golf. In the future I *may* golf at Pala Mesa but I would never stay there. I’d go to the Comfort Inn 1/2 mile down the street instead. The food at the restaurant was cold and tastless. The room had a broken air conditioner that was permanently set on 60 degrees (brrrr), the room had a horrible smell of mold.

the location was great with many hills and peaceful. There is a DJ at night and we were able to have fun and unwind after our day of work. The only negative thing I have to say is the Ceasar Salad was aweful.

    May 28, 2008
Overall my wife and I had nothing bad to say about the hotel, we just feel that it could have used some updates, especially in the bathroom area. The room was clean and well kept and it would be a great place to stay for the price if some renonvations and updating occur.

    Apr 20, 2008
Our stay was a last minute change of plans that worked out beautifully. The golf course is very good; the rates excellent. The lowest price rooms show their age a bit but they are extremely large and the bedding is wonderful. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resturant at various times: the food is absolutely fabulous and the service excellent.

    Apr 8, 2008
The standard rooms at this hotel were not very nice. They were pretty well worn. The the executive rooms are very nice however. The beds in both rooms were very comfortable with nice linens. The service at the hotel was average. The reception staff were friendly, but were not helpful. There were many times we were frustrated with them.

The rooms are off the Golf Course. The hotel has a country club feel. We don’t play golf but enjoyed the view. The … location is good right off the 15 fwy. Staff was friendly. Rooms were acceptable. Room Service and onsite dinning options available. Nice price!

    Dec 26, 2008
I would recommend this resort to anyone that is staying in North San Diego county. The room is large with high beam ceilings … with a balcony and a view of the golf course. The staff is very nice both at the reception desk and the restaurant. I truly enjoyed eating outside as not only do you have a view of the 1st tee next to a waterfall you can smoke. Having lived in Fallbrook the trip into town is only 15 minutes away and the drive is really nice as it is rural contrasted to a large population base.

    Dec 18, 2008
Room was very comfortable and spacious. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Ate in dining room and found this very … satisfory. Would like to go back and spend the weekend and play golf.

I’ve visited San Diego on other occasions and lodged at hotels where the smell of mold/mildew wasnt as obvious. Not sure if … they ever air out the rooms. The parking for our room became an issue when we got back late to the resort, but made our own parking, which was ok. Other than that, the room was great, the staff was great, the short drive to San Diego was great; overall stay was great.

    Aug 30, 2008
we had no problems everyone was very helpful and happy. clean rooms quiet atmosphere would stay again. The bar tender was great!

    May 26, 2008
Very convienient that the golf course is on Property. Friendly Staff and the Maintanence crew is top notch. Beware the … fitness center burned down during the fires and has not been rebuilt. One of my issues with the Pala Mesa resort is both mornings we were there around 6 am- 9am they were doing some type of work in the room above us?? Very loud moving furniture around etc.. Also beware there is nothing around the resort, about a 6 mile drive into town or 15 to temecula!!

    May 13, 2007
The one meal we had there was lunch and it was great! The scenery was gorgeous and the people were so friendly. The … room was very nice, had a great view of the golf course and gardens, we were right across from the pool. We had a large room with two queen beds, a desk, large closet, bathroom with seperate vanity as well. I think the price we paid for this resort was excellent. Of course if I could have gotten a better price I would take it.

My husband and I stayed overnight to attend a wedding. The entrance to the hotel is very nice as is the front desk to check into our room. The rooms are located away from the main building and in a motel style - where you enter the room from the outside…

    Sep 2, 2008
When we asked for check in early, the front personell said not early but can check out late. However he offered to go to lower grade. On check out day, front desk offered no check out unless to pay $75.00 extra which was unheard of…

    Jul 16, 2008
We were at the resort for a wedding. The rooms were spacious but out of date. Kind of overpriced for what we received. My daughrter-in-law woke up with bedbug bites all over her midsection. They transferred her family to another room but gave no discount for the irritating bug bites. They should have reimbursed her for that night. Stay again? I don’t think so.

My stay at The Pala Mesa Resort was very relaxing. My room, located on a hillside overlooking the pool was very clean, spacious and comfortable. My bed was very comfortable and the water temperature and pressure was excellent…

    Jun 12, 2008
They gave us a discounted rate, which I believe was around $100. One thing I can say is that the look and ambiance of the outside is much nicer than the inside of your room. For some reason, they gave us a room with two beds, even though we asked for a single bed. The pros: the room itself was spacious and the bathroom seemed clean and I liked the water pressure of the shower. It was also very quiet, which was nice after a long night of driving. Con: One thing I didn’t like was that the bedding was NOT clean. In fact, there were some visible stains/streaks on the comforter. Needless to say, we decided to sleep on the OTHER bed. And you couldn’t help but think the carpet wasn’t that much cleaner.
